IMD Connection: To help parents find an effective solution, GCPS prepared a resource guide that includes some industry recommended software, websites with more detailed protection information, and links to reports summarizing various content tailoring solutions. The guide is available in the Technology Tips tab.
Regardless of which approach to content management that parents prefer, parents may also want to make use of a "media guidelines"contract. To better formalize such guidelines in the home, parents might want to ask their children to sign the "Family Netiquette Plan" and the "Internet Respect Plan," documents that the National Institute on Media and the Family (http:www.mediafamily.org/network_guides_1.shtml) produces. These one-page "contracts" contain listed guidelines and require both parents and children to sign a formal household agreement pledging to abide by those rules.
