When to keep your child home

=> BLES doors open at 7:45 a.m., instruction begins @ 8:15 a.m. *A bell rings at 8:10 and we will stop the car rider line and the breakfast line at that time. This enables all students that enter the side door by 8:10 a.m. the opportunity to get to their rooms without being late.

Gwinnett County Board of Education - The policy-making body of the school system is the GCBoE.  Regularly scheduled Board meetings are held at 7pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except in April & June (3rd Thursday instead).  Meetings are held at the Instructional Support Center (ISC) located at 437 Old Peachtree Road, Suwanee, GA 30024. 

Please encourage your children to wear PE shoes to school.

When to keep your child home:

The main reasons for keeping your child home: 
   1) if they are too sick to be comfortable at school
   2) if they might spread a contagious disease to others.

As a rule of thumb, a child should stay home if there is:

  • a fever over 100.4°F

  • vomiting more than once

  • diarrhea

  • very frequent cough

  • persistent pain (ear, stomach, etc)

  • widespread rash
