ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY AND CHECK IN PROCEDURES
Attendance Policy | Tardy Policy & Check Ins | Check Outs | School Function Absences
The student will be considered "Tardy" if they arrive between 7:10 and 7:40 and should report to the Tardy Office.
If they arrive any time after 7:40, they will be considered a "Late check in" and should report to the appropriate grade level Student Management Office (SMO).
All students are expected to be in school and/or classes on time. This means in the classroom before the tardy bell rings. Students are considered tardy from the ringing of the 7:10 a.m. bell until 7:40 a.m. Please be aware that the state of Georgia does not excuse heavy traffic and/or poor weather conditions as a reason for being tardy to school (see Absence Policy, p. 14, for excused absences per state law).
PROCEDURE FOR CHECK-INS:
When tardy less than 30 minutes to school:
- Students are to report to the tardy office (1.062).
- Students will be given a tardy pass.
When tardy more than 30 minutes to school:
- Report directly to the appropriate grade level office upon arrival on campus.
- Bring a note signed by parent/guardian stating the reason for the late arrival. Include a date, reason for absence, parent signature and a phone number for verification. After five tardies to school, a parent or guardian will be required to check in their student or the student must bring in a doctor’s note at the time of check-in. If neither of the two requirements is met, the tardy will be considered unexcused and appropriate action will be taken.
- Attendance personnel will classify the tardy and give student the appropriate permit to class.
UNEXCUSED TARDIES TO CLASS POLICY: If the student is not in the room on time, then (s)he must go to the tardy office (1.062 ). At this location, the student will obtain a pass and then be sent to class. The student will not be allowed into class without the pass. If a student fails to get a pass and/or fails to attend class, the student will be considered AWOL (absent without leave/permission).
UNEXCUSED TARDIES: All students are expected to be in class on time. This means in the classroom before the tardy bell rings, otherwise you are tardy.
