Denise Schnieders

About the Teacher:  My name is Denise Schnieders and I began teaching 5th grade at WJ Cooper in 2004. I came to Cooper from Dekalb county where I spent 3 years teaching 4th grade. I attended The University of Kentucky and earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Education in 2000 with an emphasis in language and literature.
While at the University of Kentucky I meet my husband, David. We have two wonderful daughters, Georgy and Hadley. We live near by and participate in many local sports and activities with the girls. My personal creative outlet is baking and decorating cakes.
Clubs: I have Co-sponsored the WJ Cooper's Jr. BETA Club with Mrs. Neil for 4 years. The Jr. BETA Club is a service organization for students who have an exemplary academic record in the 5th grade. The club provides much needed assistance to the local community through our annual toy drive.
Expectations & Communication: I require students to write their assignments in their agenda. I sign agenda's daily to ensure that students are writing down all need information. I also expect that parents sign the agenda nightly. If you need to contact me the agenda or email works best. The other form of communication that is vital to 5th graders is the yellow Friday folder. Every Friday the folder will come home with graded papers and needs to be signed and returned Monday.
