Marla Scroggs

About the Teacher:  I am a Kindergarten paraprofessional, working with April Williams. This is my 3rd year at Cooper Elementary and my 15th year as a parapro in the Gwinnett County school system.  Before becoming a parapro at Nesbit Elementary, I taught pre-school at Mountain Park United Methodist Church.  I have a degree in Political Science/History from King College in Bristol, TN.  In May, I will be married for 36 years.  My daughter and son-in-law are teachers in Sandersville, GA.  My son is a teacher in Gray, GA.  Hugs from Kindergarteners keep me energized every day.
About the Program:  Our classroom is an exciting, creative, and fun place to learn.  Through whole group, small groups, and individual instruction, students are taught Kindergarten curriculum and are nurtured through developing social skills.
Expectations & Communication:   Meeting children where they are in their lives is my philosophy for education.  If we do not understand where our students are coming from, we will not be able to meet their needs. I expect the role of educating our students to be a joint effort of the parents, the school, and the community.  Through communication among us all, we can work together to enable our children to be successful students and citizens.
Mrs. Williams and I encourage you to contact us any time you have a concern or a question.
