Mrs. Wood is currently the Literacy Specialist at Cooper Elementary. Mrs. Wood and her husband have four children, three daughters and a son.  The family loves dogs, and are the proud owners of three beautiful labs.  Football consumes all members of the family from August through February.  Go Jackets! Go Falcons!  Go Broncos!

For thirty-four years, Mrs. Wood has been teaching children of all ages.  She graduated summa cum laude from  Oglethorpe University. Mrs. Wood received a Master Degree and a Specialist degree in Reading from Georgia State University. She began her career teaching first grade in a small school near the city of Atlanta.  Then, she taught sixth grade in a school in the town of Stone Mountain.  The next thirteen years were spent teaching at  Norcross Elementary.  Doing staff development for the Gwinnett County Language Arts Department and training in the Reading Recovery Program filled the next several years.  After three years at Dyer Elementary, Mrs. Wood was a member of the staff who opened Cooper Elementary in 2003.
