Introduction to Fireworks
When you think about fireworks
you probably think of a launching tube, a fuse, and some gunpowder all
in one. But, to tell you the truth, fireworks are so much more than that.
The history of fireworks is where it all began. Fireworks were created
in Ancient China by a cook that found a mixture of sulfur, saltpeter, and
charcoal that was very flammable and would explode if put in a miniature
amount of space. The first job of the firework was for entertainment. The
Chinese found that once the recipe for black powder was perfected, it could
easily be used as rocket fuel. The rockets were hand made in the shape
of a dragon, and shot powered arrows out of the mouth. This is the type
of weapon the Chinese used against the mongol invaders of 1279, and is
still the principle in the rocket powered fireworks we use today.
