CTE Student of the Year

Rena L. was selected and then interviewed to become Summerour Middle School's CTE (Career and Technical Education) Student of the Year for her success in the new Carnegie Unit class "Foundations of Engineering". For her efforts, she attended a banquet March 6 at Gwinnett Technical College. The banquet celebrated all of the CTE student award winners from all of Gwinnett County's Middle & High Schools. She received an award at the banquet, which was also attended by members of the Press, a Congressman and Mr. Alvin Wilbanks, our District Superintendent.

Congratulations, Rena!

Want to have fun exploring a possible future career?

Come to Grayson Technical’s Middle School Summer Career Academy for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th-graders!

This is Summer Camp with a mission! If you want to learn more about cooking, creating music, taking photographs, filming/producing video, or building robots, this summer camp is for you! The programs are half-day from 8-11 AM or 12-3 PM, except for Robotics, which is a full-day program. You can also take 2 of the half-day programs and bring your lunch for the time between sessions.

The camp is offered June 9th-12th (Monday through Thursday) at Grayson Technical on the campus of Grayson High School. The cost is only $75 half day, and $150 full day. Get a camp flyer from your school counselor and register at www.graysontech.org (via MyPaymentsPlus) beginning April 14.

The good news is this: the Parent Portal is now mobile device friendly! Go check it out on your device and see how nicely it works.

New Accountability Report

A new Accountability Report has been release for the 2013 - 2014 school year. It is available on the GCPS website or you can retrieve it right here.

Dress for Success

Blue Devil School Wear is still available through the Media Center.

Sustained Silent Reading: Every Monday!

Every Monday morning our students engage in a block of "Sustained Silent Reading" during their Blue Devil Block. Parents, we would like to enlist your help in getting your students to bring their books and read.

Our teachers are bringing their books and reading. Mrs. Jarrett is bringing her book and reading. Even some of our guests, like Mr. Willis, November's Principal for the Day bring books to read on Monday. Help us get your child reading, by making sure they have a book to read!

Are You Connected?

Summerour Middle School and GCPS are currently focused on four major initiatives… initiatives connected to our core business of teaching and learning and to our county's vision of becoming a system of world-class schools.

We encourage you to learn more about these initiatives on the GCPS website:
