Testing Information

  • Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)

    8th grade students take the Cognitive Abilities Test (the "CogAT") near the start of the year, usually in September. This test is a nationwide standardized test.

    The PSAT is "a preliminary version of the SAT," an exam students take before attending college. More information is available all over the Internet. One brief explanation that may prove helpful is available here.

  • GMAS (Georgia Milestones Assessment: End of Grade (EOG))

    Milestones End of Grade tests are administered to all students in April; EOGs assist to gauge student progress through the grade level.

  • Milestones End of Course (EOC)

    Milestones End of Course tests are administered to 8th grade students in Carnegie Unit courses in May to gauge content knowledge for that course.

  • County Tests

    Pre-tests, interims, and post-tests are built at the county level and are administered to all students during both semesters.


    DDA are District Designed Assessments and used in core-academic courses.


    SPG are also district-wide and are used in Connection courses.
