Congratulations to the 2007 - 2008 SMS Teacher of The Year
James Martinez

Congratulations to Sweetwater’s 2007-2008 Teacher of the Year, Mr. James Martinez! This year marks his 15th year in education and 4th at Sweetwater Middle School. Mr. Martinez is an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. candidate at the University of Missouri Kansas City and will complete his dissertation this year. James enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Quiana, and daughter, Elana Gabrielle. Otherwise, you will find him watching or playing football, basketball or running track. We at Sweetwater are so proud to have Mr. Martinez as a member of our talented and caring faculty!

Physical Education (PE) Uniform Information

A PE uniform is now required for all PE students. Cost is $9 for shorts, $8 for t-shirts. Checks must be made out to Sweetwater Middle School. Students may purchase uniform before school or during class. Dress for Success!

Todos los estudiantes deben tener el uniforme de Educación Física. El costo es de $9 para los pantalones cortos y $8 para las camisetas (polos, remeras). El pago se puede hacer con cheque a nombre de Sweetwater Middle School. Los estudiantes deben comprar el uniforme antes del inicio de la escuela o durante la clase. Vístase para tener éxito.

As you prepare to register your student for middle school at Sweetwater, please take sometime to read the following information.

• Only student's parent or legal guardian may register them to attend school (if not parent, guardianship papers must be presented at the time of enrollment.)Proof of residency.  One of the following is required: [bona fide lease agreement, sales contract on a home (a contingency contract is not acceptable), two utility bills (gas, power, water), not telephone, If residing with another family... a residency affidavit in addition to all of the above (in the persons name you are residing with) is required.Final Report Card showing promotion or schoolComplete mailing address of former schoolImmunization record & vision / hearing / dental certificate on Georgia formsDiscipline summary (if applicable)Current IEP (if student is in special education) Gifted eligibility
• ESOL records (if student is in ESOL / ESL program)

Sweetwater Middle School offers grades 6, 7, and 8.  We have an administrator and a counselor for each grade level.We will have four nine-week grading sessions.Students may select Band, Strings or Chorus, which are year-long courses.

Si va a matricular a su hijo en la Escuela Intermedia Sweetwater por favor, lea la siguiente información.

• Solamente los padres o tutores legales pueden matricular a los niños en la escuela, (de otra forma debe presentar un documento legal de custodia o tutela en el momento de la matrícula). Prueba de residencia. Se necesitara uno de los siguientes documentos (original del contrato de arrendamiento o de compra de una casa (no se aceptaran contratos provisionales), dos cuentas de servicios públicos (gas, agua, electricidad) no de teléfono. Si se esta quedando con un familiar necesitara una declamación de sostenimiento, autenticada por un notario, adicional a todos los documentos anteriores (a nombre de la persona con la que este viviendo). Reporte (libreta) de calificaciones que indique el nombre de la escuela y aprobación del grado. Dirección completa de la escuela anterior Certificado de vacunas y exámenes de visión, audición y dental en los formularios exigidos por Georgia Reporte de disciplina (si lo tiene) El IEP (Plan Individual de Estudios) si el niño esta en Educación Especial Reporte de selección en el programa de niños dotados (gifted)
• Reporte de ESOL (Si el estudiante esta en el programa de ESOL/ESL)

La Escuela Intermedia de Sweetwater ofrece los grados 6, 7 y 8. Tenemos un director y un consejero para cada grado. Los reportes de notas se prepararan cada nueve semanas. Enviaremos cuatro en el año. Los estudiantes pueden elegir entre Banda, Orquesta o Coro, estos son cursos que duran todo el año.
