Introduction to Digital Technology

This course is the foundational course for the Computer Networking, Computer Systems and Support, Computing, and Interactive Media Pathways. This course is designed for high school students to understand, communicate, and adapt to a digital world and its impact on their personal life, society, and the business world. Exposure to foundational knowledge in hardware, software, programming, web design, IT support, and networks are all taught in a computer lab with hands-on activities and project-focused tasks. Students will understand the concepts and apply their knowledge to situations and defend their actions/decisions/choices through the knowledge and skills acquired in this course. Competencies in the co-curricular student organization, FBLA, are integral components of both the employability skills standards and content standards for this course.


Information Technology Essentials

Students learn the skills and knowledge to diagnose and correct problems that computer users encounter. They learn to install, build, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on personal computer hardware and operating systems. Students receive practical, hands-on experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software.

Information Technology Support

Prerequisite - Information Technology Essentials

Students learn the functionality of hardware components as well as best practices in maintenance and safety issues. Through hands-on activities and labs, students learn how to assemble and configure a computer and troubleshoot computer hardware problems and the skills needed to become a successful computer support technician.
