Attention Eighth Grade Parents: One of the most important decisions your student will make upon transitioning to high school involves course selection for ninth grade. To support students and families, we want everyone to be informed about the courses from which students are selecting since the classes chosen in ninth grade can often determine what options are available in years three and four of the four-year plan. The first support tool we are providing involves a recorded webinar that is posted on both the Parkview HS website and the Trickum MS website. The online presentation will give an overview of the registration process and walk families through three of the more common schedule types for freshmen. This presentation is approximately 25 minutes long and provides families with critical information to supplement the upcoming curriculum night. The second support tool is Eighth Grade Curriculum Night which will occur on Thursday, February 9 from 6:45 until 8:30. The evening will begin in classrooms where students and parents will be introduced to Parkview staff. After other introductory information is presented, families will be allowed to attend break-out sessions that will occur from 7:30 to 7:50 and from 8:00 to 8:20. During the entire evening the cafeteria (commons area) will be set up with information stations regarding clubs, sports, and other extracurricular opportunities for ninth graders including elective classes. Our coffee shop (The Java Jungle) will be open all evening as well. Parkview would also like to encourage all 8th grade parents to sign up now for their electronic newsletter. You can do that easily by going to the Parkview website and providing your email address at the bottom of the home page where it asks you to Join Our Mailing List. For more detailed information, click here. Click here for the Online Presentation from Parkview. Run the Reagan Supports Trickum's Outdoor Theater! The coordinators for Run the Reagan have created a great opportunity for Trickum to raise additional funds for our Outdoor Theater Project. Run the Reagan will donate $5.00 for every runner who joins the Trickum Tiger team. If you have already signed up and want to add your name to the Trickum Tiger team, you just need to send me an email with the name you registered and I can add you to our team. To register for the event, click on the link below. 2012 Run the Reagan will be held Saturday, February 18th, rain, snow, ice or sunshine! The race features a 1 Mile Fun Run (untimed), a 5K Fun Run/Walk (Untimed), a 5 K (timed), a 10K (timed) and a Half-Marathon (timed). The 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon courses are USATF certified and can be used as a 2012 Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Timed runners who participate in the Half-Marathon, 10K, and 5K will be issued a ChronoTrack D-tag to be worn on their shoe during the race. Please view the website http://runthereagan.net for information to register or volunteer. Thanks for your continued support!

CRCT Practice Now Available
Online We are pleased to announce that the GA Online Assessment System is up and running for students to practice for the CRCT. The GA Online Assessment System is a website that is sponsored by the state of Georgia. This site provides some great practice as your student prepares for the CRCT which will be administered later this school year. We have the link as well as the directions and guides available on the left hand side of the Trickum homepage, the Curriculum page, and the Students page of the Trickum website. Students will find practice tests created by the state as well as tests created by our teachers that will help them prepare for the CRCT. Tests are being added continually so students should visit the site often. Students received a very important sticker from their homeroom teacher. They placed it in the front of their planner. On this sticker is their Georgia Test ID. Use this number as both the username and password for the site. Please remember that since this is a state sponsored site any technical problems need to be reported to them through the site. If you have any questions, please have your child ask his/her teacher.
Math Tutorials Available
Online Again This Year We have great news! As of now, we are able to provide all of our students with free and continuous access to all online math tutorials. The Mathematics Office and Online Campus are teaming up in conjunction with Trickum Middle School to offer online math tutorials to support students. The purpose of these tutorials is to reinforce
Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS). These AKS have been placed into a
self-paced, interactive, online tutorial. These tutorials are an
additional support and are not required but are especially highly
recommended for students struggling in math in both resource and regular
education classes or for those who wish to advance their skills. We
encourage you to take advantage of this resource. It is an excellent
tool to help your child to become more proficient at math. We are
thankful for parents who care and are involved in their child’s
learning. If we can be of further assistance please let us know.
