There’s Just No Substitute for a Great Substitute!

Gwinnett County Public Schools desires to have the best-qualified teaching and non-teaching substitutes to serve the students of our school district. Teaching substitutes are needed for all grade levels and subject areas.

Requirements for Substitute Applicants
Substitute applicants must first be approved by Human Resources. To begin this process, applicants must have a completed application on file in Human Resources.

The minimum requirements to be considered for Substitute Teaching are to submit and complete an online application and meet one of the following requirements:

Effective February 1, 2013, the minimum requirements to be considered for Substitute Teaching positions are to apply online, and have at least a bachelor level degree from a regionally accredited college or university or a PSC approved institution.

Gwinnett County Public Schools will continue accepting applications for Substitute Custodial positions. The minimum requirement for employment consideration as a Substitute Custodian is to submit and complete an online application. After approval by Human Resources, applicants must complete an interview process. All substitute employees are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal record check.

Substitutes employed in Gwinnett County Public Schools work on an as-needed basis.

Substitute Compensation
