Retaining important emails
Email Tip #16: Managing the Beast (err...Email) (Part 2)
Your inbox is full of email. Do you delete, move to another folder, or archive the emails into a shared folder or server? These guidelines may help your decision:
If an email must be retained, consider printing it for your files (hard copy), and then file securely.
If you plan to save an email for a lengthy time on the computer, make sure the document and any attachments remain in a readable format. For example, if you save a document as a Microsoft Word ".doc" file, ensure that it can be opened using future MS Word versions.
Summary: When reviewing emails that you want to save, consider printing and file hard copies of the information.
Consider if future applications will open saved email.
