"We pursued this flexibility for one major purpose-- to increase student achievement throughout the district. I am confident the IE2 Partnership Contract will lead to significant benefits for public education in Gwinnett County and in the other Georgia school districts that will follow our lead as they witness the power of implementing accountability and flexibility with the intention of improving student performance."

GCPS and State enter into IE2 Partnership Contract
Earlier this month, the State Board of Education approved an IE2 (Investing in Educational Excellence) Partnership Contract between Gwinnett schools and the State Department of Education. Starting in the 2009-10 school year, the contract allows GCPS to receive greater flexibility for schools in exchange for greater accountability for student achievement. The next step is for each school to develop a five-year Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI), detailing improvement goals intended to help the school reach its accountability targets. Click here to learn more about the system-level contract and watch for more about how you can get involved in school improvement efforts at your local school.
