Duluth High's Dana Lowe named 2001 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year

Duluth High orchestra teacher-- Dana Lowe-- named 2001 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year

Dana Lowe has earned the title of 2001 Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year. The announcement came at a November 28 banquet at the Peachtree Corners Hilton celebrating all of the school system’s local school winners. Also honored were Gina Towler of Alton C. Crews Middle as the county’s Middle School Teacher of the Year and Kim Morand of Freeman’s Mill Elementary as the county’s Elementary School Teacher of the Year. Before being named the county winner, Mrs. Lowe was honored as Gwinnett County High School Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Lowe was chosen from a field of 86 local school nominees, which had been narrowed to six finalists through a two-phase selection process. The other finalists were Nina MacKellar of Brookwood Elementary, Jennifer Mims of Fort Daniel Elementary, and Carla Whitehead of North Gwinnett High.
