“GCPS Focus”

Coming up on GCPS FOCUS... a well-deserved honor for a longtime Gwinnett County Board of Education member, Teen Read Week activities, coverage of the annual School Nutrition Program banquet and National School Lunch Week, and the 2002 International Student Media Festival winners. This week, FOCUS visits: Jackson ES and Shiloh HS.

“2003 Media Festival”

This 10-minute informational video provides an in-depth description of the annual Student Media Festival. The festival, designed to promote student interest and involvement in all types of media production, is held annually in the spring. The video also will recognize 21 Gwinnett productions, created by individual students and student teams, that were honored at the 2002 International Media Festival

Scenes from Tchaikovsky's
Swan Lake

GCPS TV is proud to present Brookwood HS performance of Scenes from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The program, the first-ever ballet performance with live orchestra in Gwinnett County history, features the Brookwood Honors Orchestra (Dr. Gregory Pritchard, Director) with the Brookwood Dance Department (Anna D'Antonio, Director).

"The Chesapeake Meteorite:
Message from the Past"

Get ready for a real out-of-this world adventure from the beautiful shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Observe the scientific method at work as you meet the key scientists involved in studying this impact event. During this "electronic fieldtrip," students will learn about the meteorite mystery as it is revealed through the use of towering drill rigs, seismic surveys, and the evidence of shocked quartz, tektites, and fossils.

"Kids Can Cook"
Scholarly Breakfasts

The second episode in the Kids Can Cook series highlights nutritious ideas for students to "jump-start" their mornings. It emphasizes how eating a good breakfast can help students be more alert and more energized. The "Spotlight on Nutrition" segments, provided by Dr. Bill Tinkler, Principal of Snellville MS, and Kathy Benton, School Nutrition Manager of Parkview HS/Trickum MS, highlight the Grab-and-Go breakfast programs and National School Lunch Week.
