Information session about GCPS services for 3-year-olds with special needs

Who: Families of children who are turning 3 years old, who have been served in the Babies Can’t Wait program.

What: An information session on making the transition into Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) special education program for 3-year-olds. Refreshments, interpreters, and childcare will be provided.

When: April 26, 2005, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Christ the King Lutheran Church on Hwy.120 in Lawrenceville.

Why: Parents often have questions about the services and resources available for their child. This program brings together private vendors of special education services, public agencies serving children with special needs, and information about your private-school and public-school options.

How: A panel of special education professionals will share information about public-school options and private-school options. A panel of parents will discuss the transition from Babies Can’t Wait. The parent panel will include a family whose child made the transition into GCPS, a family that chose a private school, and a family that used both private- and public-school options. In addition, families may participate in a question-and-answer session and watch a video on GCPS special education services.
