End of course exam news for high school students

The State Board of Education has authorized the implementation of the high school EOCT, beginning in December 2003, for standard-setting purposes only. Since the EOCT cover an entire school year of course work, these initial EOCT will be administered mostly in block-scheduled schools. In Gwinnett, Shiloh HS and Peachtree Ridge HS are on block schedules. EOCT will be administered at all high schools in the spring of 2004. EOCT will be required for the following courses: Algebra I, Geometry, 9th Grade Literature and Composition, American Literature and Composition, Biology, Physical Science, United States History, and Economics. The school system will work with high schools to address how to merge these tests with the current end-of-course exams given in Gwinnett. GCPS will provide input and continue to work with the Georgia Department of Education on this issue.
