Meadowcreek High Culinary Team wins 1st place in state competition

Meadowcreek High is representing Georgia in a national cooking competition this week in San Diego. The team, made up of four students and an alternate, is competing in the National ProStart Culinary Arts competition. The students earned their place in the national competition after first winning the top spot at the ProStart State Culinary Championship in Georgia.

The winning menu for Meadowcreek High includes:
  • Appetizer - Shrimp and grits with a lemon cream sauce, dressed micro greens and sauteed julienne peppers;
  • Main Dish - Chicken roulade with Cajun stuffing, dirty rice, fried green beans, and braised carrots;
  • Dessert - Chocolate and vanilla pecan beignets with crème anglaise and praline sauce with whipped cream, berries, and a tulip cookie.

All five students are enrolled in Meadowcreek High's Nutrition and Food Science II /ProStart Year I courses taught by Debbie Grant.

Executive Chef Richard Hurst, and his wife, a Meadowcreek High graduate, have donated their time serving as the team's mentors.
