Brookwood High student elected to national Youth Leadership Council

Anna Bleau, a rising senior at Brookwood High and Walton EMC Youth Tour delegate, has been elected to represent Georgia on the national Youth Leadership Council (YLC). Bleau has several duties during her year as Georgia’s YLC representative, the first of which was attending the YLC Conference in Washington this July.

She will also address EMC directors at the Georgia EMC annual meeting this November, as well as attend and assist at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association annual meeting in Orlando this spring. To complete her YLC cycle, she will speak to next year’s Youth Tour delegates at the 2006 Georgia Youth Tour Kickoff Banquet in Atlanta.

“I was blessed to be given this gift by my EMC–not only the incredible opportunity to go [on the Youth Tour], but also go in style, learn about and admire the gracious country in which we live and make friends that are incomparable and everlasting,” said Bleau.

Created in 1976, the purpose of the YLC is to build leadership and public speaking skills and increase delegates’ knowledge of the energy industry and cooperatives.Representatives to the council are selected by their respective state delegations during the annual Washington Youth Tour.
