Review of new science materials for grades 3-5 starts Feb. 25

Review of new science materials for grades 3-5 starts Feb. 25

WHO:All parents and citizens of Gwinnett County.
WHAT:An invitation to participate in Gwinnett County Public Schools' review of science curriculum materials for grades 3-5.
WHERE:The review will take place at Craig ES and Lawrenceville East.
WHEN:See dates and times below.
WHY:The Science Review Committee selected materials for the review from those submitted by publishers. The instructional materials were reviewed for alignment with the school system's curriculum, the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) which is being revised this spring so that it coincides with what the state plans to test at those grade levels.
HOW:The public review of the selected materials is conducted so that parents, staff, and community members may provide input on the proposed materials. During the review process, materials are piloted in classrooms in the county. Data from the reviews and pilot schools will be considered in making textbook adoption recommendations to the Gwinnett County Board of Education this spring.

For more information about the review process, contact Dana McGraw, Center for Educational Programs, at 770-338-4832.
