the J. Floyd and Eunice Brannan Scholarships.

Through an endowment to the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, Joseph and Dottie Shafer made it possible for the district to award scholarships to six outstanding Gwinnett County Public Schools students. Each recipient of a J. Floyd and Eunice Brannan Scholarship will receive $1,000 a year for four years as long as the student maintains a B average.

The J. Floyd and Eunice Brannan Scholarships are the first awarded by the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, Inc. The scholarships were presented at the April Board meeting in honor of the Brannans' contributions to the community and Mr. Brannan’s service as a former chairman of the Gwinnett County Board of Education. The Brannan Scholarships are endowed through a generous contribution by the Shafers, descendants of J. Floyd and Eunice Brannan.

Scholarship recipients are: Nicholas Callihan of Collins Hill HS, Luke Christenson of Grayson HS, Megan Dunning of Collins Hill HS, Charles Ford of Collins Hill HS, Halston Mize of Peachtree Ridge HS, and Kristen Tribble of Central Gwinnett HS.
