          Tune in and hear what Gwinnett's top teachers have to share about their profession. This program features Gwinnett's 2002 Teacher of the Year level winners, as well as scenes from the classrooms of the six Teacher of the Year finalists.

          Air Dates and Times: One-hour program airing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., and 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

          Dr. James Garbarino, author of Lost Boys – Why Our Sons Turn Violent and How We Can Save Them and Parents Under Siege: Why You Are the Solution, Not the Problem, In Your Child’s Life, shares his insight on the subject of violence and youth. Learn more about these issues, as well as strategies that will enable you to make a difference in a child’s life.

          Air Dates and Times: A 30-minute program airing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at noon, 5 p.m., and 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
          “Reading is Fundamental”

          First in a series of “Reading is Fundamental” (RIF) programs, designed to keep educators and parents informed on the latest developments and trends in children’s literacy. This program showcases how to create lifelong readers, highlighting the best segments from previous RIF programs. Show topics include storytelling, second-language learners, poetry, and reading beyond the classroom.

          Air Dates and Times: One-hour program airing Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
          “Teacher Quality: Ensuring Excellence in Every Classroom”

          This month’s U.S. Department of Education town meeting focuses on the challenge of recruiting and retaining excellent teachers. It explores how communities around the country provide teachers the tools they need to improve instruction and to help all students succeed. Questions addressed include:
          • What does the research and practice show about reforming teacher certification, licensing requirements?
          • How can research-based professional development improve the quality of teaching and increase student achievement?
          • What are the barriers to innovation and improvement in teaching?
