Coming up on GCPS FOCUS... buses are in the news as the annual bus trip hosted by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education makes a stop at Maxwell HS of Technology, C-SPAN's bus tour visits Duluth HS, and National School Bus Safety Week is recognized in Gwinnett schools. This week, FOCUS visits: Duluth HS, Knight ES, and Maxwell HS of Technology.

"Telling Stories: Laurence Yep"
The first program in the Prince William Network's Kennedy Center Performing Arts Series will air live on Friday, November 1 at 11 a.m. The program offers students the opportunity to interact with award-winning author Laurence Yep as he talks about his personal experiences growing up as a Chinese-American. He also will share with young student writers, offering suggestions and advice on writing stories based on one's personal experiences.

"Journey to the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands"The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands are a combination of incredible high islands, coral islands (atolls), and submerged reefs. The islands provide a vital habitat for over 14 million sea birds, threatened green sea turtles, and the endangered Hawaiian Monk seals. Students will have the opportunity to visit these islands, take a virtual "snorkeling trip," meet the awesome albatross and monk seals, and learn why it is important to protect these island habitats. “2003 Media Festival”
This 10-minute informational video provides an in-depth description of the annual Student Media Festival. The festival, designed to promote students' interest and involvement in all types of media production, will be held in the Spring of 2003. The video also recognizes the 21 Gwinnett County students and teams who won at the international level in 2002.

Scenes from Tchaikovsky's
GCPS TV is proud to present Brookwood HS' enchanting performance of Scenes from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The program, which marked the first-ever ballet performance with live orchestra in Gwinnett County history, features the Brookwood Honors Orchestra (Dr. Gregory Pritchard, Director) with the Brookwood Dance Department (Anna D'Antonio, Director).
