GCPS TV
“Education News Parents Can Use - Elevating the Teaching Profession” This month’s edition focuses on U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan engaging teachers across the country in a town hall forum on what’s working and what’s not working in our nation’s schools. The conversation will cover ways to improve the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, now called No Child Left Behind; better methods for recruiting, preparing, and rewarding teachers; ideas for elevating the teaching profession; and much more. This 60-min program airs Nov. 2-8 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“Searching for Life in the Great Smoky Mountains” Join the National Park Service on an educational adventure to the most visited national park in the country - Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Here the variety of elevations, the abundant rainfall, and the presence of old growth forests give the park an unusual richness of biota (collection of organisms). Black bears, tiger swallowtails, tulip poplars, elk, and salamanders without lungs are just a few of the species that thrive in this region. It is amazing to think there are living things all around us that have gone undetected, yet new species are continually being discovered in this mountain wonderland. This 60-min program airs live Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.

Spanish for Educators - Level 2” This 10-part GCPS TV original series is an advanced Spanish language class designed to help educators learn words and phrases relating to school rules, school personnel, giving directions, and parent-teacher conferences. Hour-long segments will air at 11 a.m. Monday-Sunday, through Dec. 13 (a new class will air each week, beginning on Monday).

Tune in to Gwinnett County Public Schools’ educational access channel for education programs and information. TV cable channels and providers include: Charter on Channel 22, and Comcast on Channel 24 and 26.
