School Facts: Beaver Ridge Elementary School is located in Norcross, Georgia and is approximately 25 miles from Atlanta. Although Norcross is considered a suburb, our student population is more like one found in an urban setting. Our enrollment of 988 students in Kindergarten through fifth grades is highly diverse and represents many different nations, including many students from Mexico, Nigeria, various South American countries, Vietnam, and Pakistan. Approximately 54% of our students are Hispanic, 26% are African-Americans/Africans, 7% are Caucasian, 12% are Asian and 1% other. You can see why our motto is "Where Diversity is Our Strength".

We have a staff of highly trained professionals with approximately one third having a post graduate degree, or are currently in the process of earning a post graduate degree. All students in 1st through 5th grades attend a special area class every day for 45 minutes in the areas of art, music, P.E., computer and an enrichment class in language or science depending on their grade level. Kindergarten classes have P.E., art, music and computer to enrich their learning experience at Beaver Ridge. Our gifted program is called FOCUS, an acronym for Fostering Originality Creativity Understanding and Self awareness. They participate each year in the Destination Imagination competition. Beaver Ridge has a Student Council consisting of student representatives from 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. They help with the Red Cross drive as well as other civic projects, while setting the example of good citizenship for the entire student body.
If you are ever in the area of Norcross, Georgia we would love to have you stop in and see our wonderful school in action.

School History: Beaver Ridge Elementary sits on land near a grassy ridge and along a creek which at one time was populated by beavers. The Welch family home was located on this site which they purchased in 1925. The old Beaver Ruin School served the community in 1896 with a faculty of 2. The current Beaver Ridge opened in August, 1979 with a staff of 55 and a student enrollment of 764 in grades K-5. The first principal was Gary Fairley who served from 1979-1985. Other principals include Rebecca Hopcraft, Jerry Lehner, and Joyce Spraggs, and Carlotta Rozzi. The current principal is Esther Adames who began at Beaver Ridge in July 2004.
