BookSharp is a reading incentive program that has proven to be effective in helping to teach reading comprehension to students in second-fifth grade. Each book in the program is assigned a point value which is determined by the difficulty of the book. After students read a book, they take a computerized comprehension test. When they pass the test, they earn points which accumulate. Students are recognized at the following three levels: 25 pts. - Student's picture is placed on the BookSharp Bulletin Board and moved forward as the students earn more points. 100 pts. - Student receives a medal. 300 pts. - Student receives a trophy and is entered into the BookSharp Hall of Fame. During the 2002-2003 school year, students mastered 19,469 books and earned 54,612 points.
