Each year every school faculty identifies goals for local school improvement. The local school goals are specific in nature and are intended as stepping stones to reaching the overall Vision, Mission and Strategic Goals for school improvement and System Initiatives identified by the Gwinnett County Public School System. The goals identified by the faculty at Norton Elementary for this school year are:

Local School Reading Objectives:
    1. 80% of students in grades K-5 will be on or above grade level in reading as measured by the GCPS Reading Standards, the Rigby level (Grade/Level: K/3, 1/16, 2/22, 3/25, 4/28, 5/30) and teacher judgment based on a preponderance of evidence.
    2. 93% of students in grades 1-5 will score a level 2 or 3 on the reading/language arts portion of the CRCT.
    3. 75% of students with disabilities in grades 1-5 will score a level 2 or 3 on the reading/language arts portion of the CRCT.
    4. 80% of students in grades K-4 will be on or above grade level in writing as measured by the Gwinnett County Literacy Standards.
    5. 95% of fifth grade students will pass the state writing assessment.
    6. Students in grades 3 and 5 will score an average of level 3.1 on the state writing assessment.

Local School Math Objectives:
    1. 90% of students in Kindergarten will score 75% or higher on the end of year math assessment.

    2. 90% of students in grades 1-5 will score at level 2 or 3 on the mathematics section of the CRCT.

    3. 70% of students with disabilities will score at level 2 or 3 on the mathematics section of the CRCT.
