Where did the time go? On Monday, January 25, we celebrated the 100th day of school for this school year. WOW! During this time of the school year, we are quickly moving forward to spring testing in March and April. The teachers at R. L. Norton Elementary School are very busy teaching and our Lil’ Norton Comets are busy learning. We look forward to maximizing our instructional time with the students during this time of the school year. Please help us by making sure your child comes to school ON TIME every day. It is very important that the students be here for instruction as soon as it begins each and every day. As a reminder, the school day begins at 8:15AM for our students. Again, we certainly appreciate your assistance and support in this area. Please note that February 12 and February 15 are now regular school days due to the flood and snow make-up days.
During the month of February, our students will be taking a CRCT (Criterion-Referenced Competency Test) Diagnostic Test. This test will give your child and your child’s teacher good information as he/she is preparing for the spring administration of the CRCT. This assessment will be based on the AKS (Academic Knowledge & Skills).
Also during the month of February, you will have the opportunity to have one-on-one face-to-face time with your child’s teacher. Early release conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 3 and Thursday, February 4. Students will be dismissed at 12:15PM on both of these days. I encourage you to take this opportunity to conference with your child’s teacher as he/she will have important information to share with you.
Again, thank you for your continuous support of the students here at R. L. Norton Elementary School. Thank you for entrusting your children to us each and every day. The staff members of Norton Elementary School and I do not take the work that we do lightly. R. L. Norton Elementary School believes in LEARNING FOR ALL and CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT each and every day.
Your Proud Principal,
Daundria S. Phillips, Ph.D.
