|THE FACILITIES & OPERATIONS DIVISION ACHIEVED THE PRESTIGIOUS GEORGIA OGLETHORPE AWARD |
The Facilities and Operations Division reached a continuous improvement milestone by achieving the Malcolm Baldrige-based Georgia Oglethorpe Award. This achievement level comes after 10 years of modeling and measuring our work after private sector companies. The Malcolm Baldrige is arguably the most difficult award in the world for a corporation to attain.
Receiving the Oglethorpe Award requires an organization to have sound business practices that are broadly and deeply deployed throughout the organization. In selecting winners, a panel of judges looks at a number of criteria including: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, and process management. In addition, the process measures business results, looking for direct links between the way an organization does business and the results it achieves. To be an Award recipient, an organization must demonstrate a history of continuous evaluation and improvement.
In announcing the award, Governor Roy E. Barnes said, “This Award represents a commitment to hard work and excellent business practices.”
